The Khangai Mountains occupy much of central and north-central area in Mongolia. It has a vast emptiness that links land and sky, and is one of the last few places on the planet where nomadic life is still a living tradition. The terrain is one of mountains and rolling plateaus, a unique and special landscape. Riding northwest we’ll leave the beaten track in our dust as we head towards the Khangai mountain range. Khangai has become a generally used term by Mongolians to describe the entire lush forest-steppe area to the north as opposed to the southern Gobi Desert.
