Cards are accepted pretty much everywhere except maybe buying something off a nomad in Mongolia. All the cities we pass through will have ATM’s but, it is always advisable to have a few dollars somewhere safe just in case .
Our tours come in few shapes and sizes don’t be fooled by our name. Some on the road some off, some high altitude and some beautifully paved roads through the desert. Look out for the grading on the tour page. The level of difficulty is not just about the riding but the length of the tour, the altitude and the type of accommodation.
This would tend to be a necessity for riding a motorbike in far flung parts of the globe. We recommend you also get you IDP or international driving permit in fact for some tours it is also a necessity. This is obtainable in your own country.
It is good to have a bag on you for things like sun lotion, cameras, go pro and other stuff. Your main luggage will be in a vehicle, which will be with us but it is far easier to keep a small separate bag for the daily needs.
Pillions:- Pillions come on
You are responsible for your insurance. Extreme has always recommended World Nomads a very simple online service and very reasonable. You must be insured you are riding a motorbike!!
In most of our tours we use the Royal Enfield an icon of the motorcycling world. This bike is resilient and will take whatever you can throw at it on whatever the terrain. Built for the Indian roads and thumping since 1949 this is a great ride. In Sri Lanka we are restricted to the 350cc everywhere else we use the 500cc models. If you rode an Enfield in the past the gears were on the other side. This is no longer the case and is the same as a Japanese bike.
On tours such as Madagascar and Cuba other bikes are used and they vary from Africa Twin’s, Harley Davidson’s and BMW”S please read through the tour information to find out more.
Vaccinations :- We are not doctors. Please consult your doctor to find out if you need any vaccinations for your trip or any boosters, or anything you personally might need for the tour.
Fitness: You will know when choosing your tour whether you are fit enough for the tour. Some are more demanding than others due to distance or type of accommodation. If in doubt we would be happy to advise on which tour might suit you.
Altitude:- This really only applies to our Himalayan Tours but Acute Mountain Sickness or AMS is a very real risk and must be taken seriously. You can get your doctor to prescribe some Diamox we also carry it. There are lots of sensible steps to avoid it which your guide will run through.
Eats & Sleeps
The accommodation is very varied from luxury palaces in Rajasthan to a tent or Gher in Mongolia. You will have to check what your tour offers. In some cases there are single supplements on offer.
If you have any dietary requirements whether you are vegetarian, gluten intolerant or anything else please let us know beforehand so we can plan in advance.
We require a 30% deposit on any of the tours with the full amount paid 2 months before the start date.
