Day 1
Galle Face
We meet in the hotel bar in the Galle face hotel one of the iconic hotels of Ceylon steeped in colonial history it is a fitting place to start our tour.
Day 2
Galle Face - Kandy
To get to the start of the ride we catch the train to Kandy. This is one of the classic train journeys of the world as it creeps into the hill country. Kandy is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka and home to the Temple of the Tooth. We arrive with the afternoon to explore the city.
Day 3
Kandy - Nuwara Eliya via Hatton
A journey through tea today as we wind our way through the highlands on the way to ‘Little England’ as Nuwara Eliya is known. Cool temperatures and a view down the first fairway at the famous old golf club set us up for an evening drink at the bar.
Day 4
Knuckles
Sweeping bends then out into the wilderness today riding over mainly great but remote roads before heading to the luxury of Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge and a view to the mountains we have just ridden through.
Day 5
Knuckles - Dambulla
Today we head over the northern Knuckles through stunning landscapes on route to the most famous sites in Sri Lanka located in the cultural triangle. From here we are out of the hill country and into the cultural triangle and the East
Day 6
Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa
Now we are in the cultural triangle we have the chance and the time to explore the sites of the area. Starting on the rock of Sigiriya to the cavetemples of Dambulla and the sprawling ruins of Polonnaruwa this is where it all happened. We explore the area on the bikes staying in Polonnaruwa.
Day 7
Trincomalee via Passikudah
To the coast and lunch in Passikudah before heading on to Trincomalee, once described as the finest harbour in the world. Here we can visit thebeautiful old fort and temples within.
Day 8
Trincomalee - Jaffna
Following the roads up the East coast we head for the most northerly city in the country Jaffna. Jaffna Fort was built by the Portuguese in the 17th century and later occupied by the Dutch and British.
Day 9
Jaffna (Rest Day)
Here we have a rest day and a chance to explore the area or while away the day in the hotel. Jaffna has an old fort and a huge Hindu Temple to see.
Day 10
Anuradhapura - Wilpattu
Heading south along the coast we strike inland and towards Anuradhapura one of the Ancient Capitals of the country before diving into the wilds of Wilpattu National Park. The following morning, we will head out on a dawn safari. This is the home of the leopard.
Day 11
Wilpattu - Kalpitiya
Having returned from safari, after a late breakfast we make the short ride to Kalpitiya.
Day 12
Kalpitiya - Galle Face
We ride back to the city and the luxury of the Galle Face and a dinner to digest the tour
Day 13
Departure
Departure to the airport or onward travel.
