Upcoming tour: 23rd July – 4th August 2022

Sri Lanka is a gem in the Indian Ocean, a slice of tropical paradise to explore on two wheels. Ride the Royal Enfield 350cc Classic through the Hidden Sri Lanka motorcycle tour. Take in the sights, sounds and smells of the island weaving through the picturesque mountains of the interior and regions sculpted by tea plantations.

The UNESCO sites of Horton Plains, Dambulla and The Knuckles mountains provide unique flora and fauna and the ruins of ancient civilisations. The island is surrounded by stunning beaches from the wild unexplored east coast to the lush coastline of the southern province.

While on tour, the warmth and hospitality of the people is experienced throughout. On this island the Elephant is king and during our ride there will be many chances to see these majestic creatures in their natural habitat, an awe-inspiring experience.

The tour uses luxury and unique accommodation throughout from the modern OZO overlooking Kandy, to converted tea estates like Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge and the colonial Nuwara Eliya Golf Club provide the perfect antidote to the days ride. These are some of Sri Lanka hidden gems.

Day 1
Transfer to your beautiful beach hotel in Galle. This will be our starting point and eventually our finishing point. First group dinner will be later that evening.
Day 2
Galle was built by the Dutch in 1663. With its wonderful collection of Dutch-colonial buildings it is a town of great beauty. Today, Galle is a city of trade, art and is full of boutique shops and cafes. Also do not miss the view of the fort and nearby beaches from the Japanese Peace Pagoda – simply stunning.
Day 3
On the first long day of the tour we ride through the lush countryside of the south heading inland to Udawalawe, a national park in an area of outstanding natural beauty. A beautiful ride on great roads and with very little traffic.
Day 4
Tea Plantations
Having woken to the sounds of the jungle we head out after a big breakfast for a day, which takes us past lakes and forests then climbs up to 1500m into tea country and the highlands of Sri Lanka. This is a ride, which goes through jungle, hills and plantations weaving through a magical backdrop of stunning scenery. We end our day staying at a stunning jungle resort. It’s a special place in a remarkable natural setting surrounded by pristine jungles, waterfalls and wildlife galore.
Day 5
Horton Plains & Nuwara Eliya
From the jungle we head to Horton Plains a high altitude plain of montane grasslands and cloud forests in the shadow of two of Sri Lanka’s highest mountains, before heading on to Nuwara Eliya a colonial hill station also known as ‘little England’.
Day 6
Today takes us to Kandy the old capital of Sri Lanka, an unbelievable ride. These roads were built for motorbikes. Kandy is the seat of one of the ancient kingdoms of Sri Lanka and it is here that we will be having a rest day. Time to relax!
Day 7
There are plenty of things to do or see here in Kandy, so whether visiting the Temple of the Tooth one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in the world, the botanical gardens, relaxing round the pool or exploring the restaurants and bars, the city of Kandy has it all.
Day 8
We experience a more adventurous ride today as we head up into the Knuckles mountain range with a backdrop of mountains with truly amazing scenery and tranquility. It remains as an unspoilt nature reserve even today.
Day 9
After the knuckles we descend onto the plains of the North East where we get the opportunity to open the throttle up on the roads heading to Dambulla a part of the cultural triangle. This area of the country is truly ancient and home to some fascinating places dating back over 2000 years.
Day 10
Gal Oya & Passikudah
Heading south we pass through national parks in what is a remote part of the country. There is the opportunity to see wildlife as you drive down a carpeted road that disappears into the distance. Ending up in Gal Oya a lodge set in the middle of the jungle an awe-inspiring setting.
Day 11
Arugam Bay
We leave the peace of Gal Oya and head East to the East coast and Arugam Bay a beautiful sandy bay which has been a mecca for surfers from the 70’s. Full of bars and nightlife and beach time. This is a relatively short day as we want to take advantage of the beach and prepare for a long last day.
Day 12
Finally, we head back to where we started, the southern town of Galle. This is a long day in terms of kms through ever changing scenery but a rewarding last blast to finish the tourand a chance to work up a healthy appetite for our final dinner.
